First off, my Beach Bash story. I stumbled across information about Beach Bash early in 2002 while looking at a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan website. This site led me on a search, and I found Kathie at eTravelaway.com.
Long story short, Kathie is just amazing, and I'm so blessed to have found my long-lost twin sister, some 31 years into the journey! :-). Kathie got me hooked up with a roommate (Kim) and kept me updated on the progress of drivers signing contracts and the like.
The day the Jr. signed his contract, I faxed my credit card authorization!
Armed with a bunch of video games, some t-shirts and a killer ice-breaker line ("Hi, I'm Tanya - have I met you yet?"), I set off to the Wyndham Rose Hall in Montego Bay for an amazing week. I met so many nice people, met all the drivers, and made some other awesome contacts with a variety of people. Oh yeah, and I danced with Dale Earnhardt, Jr.! Be still my heart!
Long story short, I'm counting the days till next year (the date's not set yet, so I can't setup a timer).
I've setup an ofoto album for these pictures - if you would like a copy of any of the prints, the easiest way to handle it is to order online through ofoto. To access the album, go here. You will have to setup an ofoto account, if you don't have one already, to order the pictures - their rates are very reasonable $.49 per print.

This was the view from the sidewalk at the Lazy River, looking out to the beach. |
And the view from the balcony of my room. |
Me and my roommate, Kim at the Beach Volleyball competition. I wasn't feeling QUITE coordinated enough to play on the team, but I enjoyed watching! |
(L to R) Me, Kathie and Lori at the Three Palms for dinner. |
I have affectionately dubbed this "grass skirt man", but according to Kathie, his name is Jimmy. Jimmy it is! He was dancing in the Cricket club on Sunday night, and was quite entertaining! |
Jimmy, the grass skirt man. |
Baby Chloe brought loads of enterainment to us all. She was such a good natured baby - 10 months old and she's been to more countries than I have! |
Out for dinner at the Italian restaurant onsite, called Luna di Mare (They call it a Caribbean restaurant, but it seemed Italian to me!) (Back row, L to R)Me, Kim, Laurie, Kathie (Front row, L to R) Jane, Rich, Kevin |
My little Jr tribute. He drums! |
 He sings! |
He sings some more! (He keeps his day job!) |
He looks YUMMY playing volleyball! (I snagged this picture from Kathie's picture site. Thanks, Kathie!) |
Kathie and Phil Cavali, photographer for Winston Cup Scene |
Me and Lee McCall (Sterling Marlin's Crew Chief). Lee was another one of the truly nice guys! Notice the product placement? |
Kim and Larry MacReynolds, Fox Sportscaster. All I can say about Larry's Sunburn is OUCH! |
Lori and Larry MacReynolds, Fox Sportscaster (Pre-sunburn). |
Larry Foyt, playing volleyball for the Green Team. |
Lee McCall (Sterling Marlin's crew chief, and all around nice guy!) sitting in the ocean. We do not ask quesitons like "Whatcha doin', Lee?" |
Me and my Air Jamaica Vacations buddy, Brian. Brian was instrumental in getting me the equipment I needed to let fans and drivers play some video games! Thanks, Brian! |
Me and Josh Richeson(Busch series driver). This picture cracks me up - I was obviously talking very intently about something. It pretty much captures the week for me! I was most likely talking about our video game! |
OK, how much do I love this picture? It's now the desktop item on my home computer. I keep on telling myself "He's just a guy with a cool job!", but it doesn't work. And for those of you who heard my embarrasing story, I did NOT say anything stupid when we took this picture! BTW - This is a picture of me and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., for those of you who aren't up on your NASCAR (or my crushes!) |
You guessed it! I was talking about the NASCAR video game! (Also seen in this picture). Notice my "Back off, he's mine" t-shirt? |
Me and Kathie! Hey Sister! |
(L to R) Lori, Kevin, Kathie, and Me. Out to dinner at the Three Palms (for the first time). |
Me and Larry Foyt. Larry will be moving to the Winston Cup next season, driving for Harrah's Casino's. Larry was ALSO one of the nicest guys there, and he gave me one of my favorite Beach Bash memories - playing NASCAR Dirt to Daytona in our PJ's at the Pajama Party Tuesday night. For the record, he kicked my butt at the game, but Josh Richeson gave me some good advice that allowed me to not finish dead last next time I played! |
Another picture with me and Larry Foyt. I couldn't decide which one I liked best. |
Me and Matt Dillner. Matt is with the Fox SportsNet (And Speed Channel) show, Totally NASCAR. Hey, guess what! Matt's a really nice guy, too! |
Me and Ron Hornaday (Busch series driver). Ron was the life of many, many parties! Ron also advised me that I'm easier to understand when I've been drinking, as I talk a little slower then. What can I say? I got flustered! |
Me and Steve "Just call me Steve Park" Park. Heh. Steve drives the #1 Penzoil Chevy for DEI in the Winston Cup Series. |
At the autograph signing with Steve Park. |
Me and Tommy Baldwin, Ward Burton's crew chief for the 2002 season. I think I read somewhere he's switching teams for next season, but I'm not 100% sure on that. |
(L to R) Kim, Brett Bodine (Winston Cup series driver), and me. You got it, Brett was a nice guy! |
(L to R)Kathie, Shawna Robinson (Winston Cup series driver) and me. |
(L to R) Kevin Grubb (Busch series driver, I think), Me, and Tony Lambert, Kevin's Crew Chief. Tony was instrumental in getting the buzz going on the NASCAR game, Thanks, Tony! |
(L to R) Tommy Surbaugh, Me and Sean Pragano. Tommy is the Producer on Totally NASCAR (Fox SportsNet and Speed Channel show) and Sean is one of the reporters for the show. I have to say I TRULY enjoyed every minute I spent with the two of them! |
 I couldn't decide which picture I liked better.... |
Me and Christian Elder. Christian is a Busch driver, and he was one of the nicest guys there! |
(L to R) Marty, Tammy, Lisa and Me at Margaritaville. (I snagged this picture from Kathie's picture site. Thanks, Kathie!) |
